Call for Proposals

The Council for Educational Diagnostic Services (CEDS), a division of the Council for Exceptional Children, and the Louisiana Education Diagnosticians’ Association (LA-ED) are inviting proposals on assessment and evaluation related topics to present at a conference to be held from September 20 and September 21, 2018 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Proposal Guidelines. Please include the following in your proposal:

Cover Sheet: Include the title of the proposal and names, titles, address, e-mail addresses, and telephone and fax numbers of the session leader and other participants.

Conference Program Description: 50 word description of the presentation.

Abstract: 300-500 words that include:

  • A statement of the issue and its relevance to the field
  • Objectives of the presentation
  • The prospective audience
  • Usefulness to practitioners
  • Type of presentation: lecture, demonstration, poster, workshop
  • Time requested: one, two or three hours

Deadline for proposals is May 1, 2018

CEDS 2018 Conference Keynote Speakers

Tammy L. Stephens-Pisecco, Ph.D. is a Clinical Account Executive with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.  She is an educational diagnostician and has worked as a special education teacher and a university professor.  Dr. Stephens-Pisecco is the coauthor of the Core-Selective Evaluation Process (C-SEP), a PSW model for SLD identification.  Research interests include:  Assessment practices, early intervention and RTI, and the impact of resilience on student academic and behavioral performance.

Virginia Gonzalez, M. Ed., CALT, is currently a dyslexia specialist in Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD. Virginia has served as the diagnostician for dyslexia in McAllen ISD for seven years assessing both monolingual and bilingual students. As a Certified Academic Language Therapist, she also provided teacher support for the district dyslexia programs for both English and Spanish speaking students. Virginia spent 5 years as the state dyslexia consultant where she coordinated the state project development for the “Texas Dyslexia Identification Academy.

To receive the conference room rate of $129.00 per night you must reserve by September 6, 2018. You must call (504) 962-0500 and request "CEDS/LEDA 2018 conference code QEZ" to secure the conference rate. The conference rate will not be applied to reservations made online.
